Do not miss your chance to compete for the national platform and $100,000 that come with the Innovations in American Government Award – DEADLINE March 15th.

The Award program is devoted to recognizing and promoting excellence and creativity in the public sector. Since its inception in 1985, the Program has received more than 27,000 applications and recognized nearly 500 government initiatives.
Recently they announced the winner of the 2011 Innovations in American Govenment Award: New York City’s innovative, poverty-fighting Center for Economic Opportunity.

All units of government — federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial — from all policy areas are eligible to apply for recognition. The top winner will receive a $100,000 grant to support replication and dissemination activities. Top finalists will also receive monetary grants.

They also identify and promote promising government efforts and partnerships through the Bright Ideas program. This new initiative is designed to further recognize and promote creative government initiatives and partnerships and create an online community where innovative ideas can be proposed, shared, and disseminated.

Applications and additional information for both initiatives are available at www.innovationsaward.harvard.edu. Applications are due on MARCH 15, 2012.
